“I struggle with making the key of A sound dynamic and interesting on acoustic, so naturally I skipped ahead to that section and quickly learned a bunch of ways to spice up my chords that I wish I’d known about much sooner!” - Tim K

“I learned to play guitar several years ago, but because I never practiced chord variations my skill quickly plateaued. This resource is exactly what I needed to take my playing to the next level." - Jacob K

Kyle Scott

Hi, I'm Kyle, guitar teacher, music producer, and YouTube / Instagram content creator. I'm excited to help you make music like you've never made before.

Once upon a time, I stopped playing guitar.

I felt like I'd squeezed a lot out of it, and I didn't know what else there was to learn (without paying an arm and a leg for someone to give me private lessons).

Worse than being tired of it, I was disappointed and discouraged after performances.

I felt like what I was playing was just white noise.

The basics were easy. I could fingerpick a bit. But I didn't have anything to offer that sounded...different.

I dabbled in songwriting, but even that was hard, feeling like every attempt consisted of forcing lyrics to appear over a routine chord progression.

Then something changed.

I don't know what started it. But I started to notice a pattern between the chords I was drawn to.

They all used open strings. Someone had shown me a few open chords in E, and from there, I was hooked.

It was then that I realized there are several keys on the guitar that use open strings in really cool, unusual ways, if I'd just take the time to explore. So that's what I did.

That's when my guitar playing and gigging took off to a new level.

I became capable of adding lead lines to my chords, learning songs by ear, and creating fingerstyle guitar arrangements — all because my mind got opened to the power of open strings!

I no longer had to Google chord charts. I could learn songs faster and more accurately by ear.

I no longer had to look up tabs. I could imitate lead lines, even putting the chords underneath them, without help from anyone.

I credit it all to the power of open strings and the way it allows me to play all over the neck without using regular old barre chords, which are much harder and, over time, more tiring to play.

Over time, I amassed a collection of what I call "colorful chords".

Then, after reading comment after comment on my YouTube channel from people saying they were amazed by the chords I was showing there, I decided the world needed access to all the open string chords I know.

These chords had made me excited to play again, helped me learn to play songs and lead lines by ear, and made me confident to perform in front of others.

Any guitar player would benefit from these!

And the collection is finally here.

100 Colorful Chords is for:

GUITARISTS

that want to "wow" an audience by moving beyond basic chords and playing unique, gorgeous, open chords all over the neck.

SONGWRITERS

that want to write lyrics over original, powerful progressions that make people want to hear your song again and again.

CREATIVE MUSICIANS

that need a fresh wave of inspiration to make incredible music to put out into the world.

Who it's NOT for:

  • Beginner guitarists who haven't yet mastered the starter chords.
  • Songwriters who don't care if the chord progression is powerful, as long as the lyrics are good
  • Musicians who have no problem playing and performing with the same few chords every day forever and ever and ever...

What is a "colorful" chord?

These are not basic starter chords OR barre chords. These colorful chords rely on open strings to get a particularly full, lush sound. EVERY chord, whether it's low or high on the neck, uses at least one open string (making these generally easier to play and master than barre chords).

SMALL SAMPLE 👇

Read what Nathan had to say

"I’m a perpetually amateur guitar player who loves strumming chords...

My biggest problem is I can only play the standard chords so many times before they just sound stale. This guide, and the videos that go along with it, are a fun way to add new color to my strumming and fingerpicking. The chord charts are easy to read, and the videos take them from theory to practice beautifully.

I won’t be learning all 100 chords any time soon, but even just adding a few new chords to my toolbox has already made me smile at getting to play old songs in new ways. I think I’m accidentally learning some music theory along the way, too!"

- Nathan M

Don't forget: It's completely risk free

I've packed a lot into 100 Colorful Chords because I want your guitar playing to be swept off its feet and completely transformed, like Cinderella getting the bippity boppity boo from Fairy Godmother. I want a guarantee that you have plenty to work with here. I want to know there's NO WAY you can walk away after going through the course without being floored by what you learned.

But to make this a no-brainer for you I'm offering you a 14 day money back guarantee.

That's right, I'm giving you 2 full weeks to go through the chords, get used to the shapes, play with the progressions, and dive into the videos to see if your guitar playing starts to become more powerful, unique, and pretty. If you don't love it after 2 weeks, send me an email and I'll refund you immediately, no questions asked, no hard feelings.

I genuinely want you to succeed and be happy with your guitar playing. If this doesn't do anything for you, you get your money back to try something else.
